In order to reduce the obesity problem for the next generation, Mc Donald United States announced to reduce the quantity of fries and to add more vegetables or fruits into their kids meal effective from September 2011.
The nutritional health organizations in America are keeping their eye on the child obesity issue and always pointing to MC Donald in the past about their tactic in attracting young adults with toys. This has caused the kids health to be seriously affected and also causing the child obesity issue hiking from the trend.
Under the pressure from parents, consumer organizations as well as the parliament, Mc Donald in the United States have no choice but to introduce a more healthy meal to the kids. This is confirmed to be effective from September 2011 and the company targets to have all their 14,000 outlets in the United States start the supply fully from April 2012 onwards.
The all new Mc Donald Happy Meal for kids will see their reduction in calories to a level of below 600 or more. The meal will still contains one hamburger, cheeseburger or Mc Chicken, but the fries will be reduced from the current 2.4 ounce to 1.1 ounce, this equal to a 100 calories reduction. On top of that, consumer will have their choice to take low fats drink.
According to the chain restaurant, happy meal will includes more vegetables and fruits in the coming 5 years. Other than the American chain, Mc Donald Canada will also launch a healthier happy meal. The meal will be slightly different and will includes a strawberry cheese and 31gm of fries which contains only 100 calories.
