Besides that, diuretics may cause constipation, vomiting, nausea, fatigue and even depression. If unlucky, seizures and muscle weakness can also occur.
Diuretics may be very harmful for people who use it for the intensions of losing weight. But it is very suitable for heart patients and kidney patients. This is because diuretics stimulate the kidneys and causes water and sodium expulsion, resulting in the patient urinating more. People with kidney problems have trouble excreting waste products from their body and thus, diuretic become another option for these patients.
Diuretics used for weight loss are not encouraged or even recommended by physicians. This is due to the many side effects related to diuretics. Some of which are dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, which may end up in serious cases. Weight loss will be experienced using this method. But at the same time, this weight loss will be gained again once food or drink is consumed. Therefore, this weight loss would only be temporary. However, abusing diuretics for too long may cause serious issues and thus, it is potentially dangerous for dieters. Dieters should seek better supplements in order to gain a more permanent outcome.
